Qualification: grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the competition.
Range: AMC10 covers the mathematical knowledge of grades 9-10, including elementary algebra, basic geometry (Pythagorean theorem, area volume formula, etc.), elementary number theory and combinatorial problems, excluding trigonometric functions, advanced algebra and advanced geometry. It mainly includes simple calculation and word problems, number theory, plane geometry, solid geometry, functional equation coordinate system, permutation and combination, statistical probability, etc.
Question type: 25 multiple choice questions ,and each question has only one correct answer.
Test time: 75 minutes.
Scoring criteria: Full Score of 150 points, 6 points for correct answer, 1.5 points for failure to answer, 0 point for wrong answer.
Activity time: November of each year.

Description about Version A/Version B:
Both the A and the B versions of the AMC 10 and the AMC 12 have the same number of questions, the same scoring, and the same rules for administration. The only differences are the competition dates and that each version has a distinct set of questions, although the two examinations are designed to be equal in difficulty and distribution of topics.
